I am at last racing to completion of A Winter’s Mercy, the third book in The Blood Scouts series, so it’s time for a full introduction. This book is about half the length of the first two, but it’s a hard-hitting story, as a seeming innocuous mission for Wild Wish quickly turns into something deeply harrowing. Such is war…
I’m confident in naming a release date for the book now of October 28th, 2025, and so will shortly be making it available to reviewers. We’re in full swing with designing the cover, which promises to be another stunning bit of artwork from Stefan Koidl, and I’ve got together the initial blurb now (may be subject to change):
A Winter’s Mercy
They say if you see the Stranded, it’s already too late…
Tasked with transporting a monster-hunting “ghost” to the Vulgar Division artillery unit, far from the fighting, Wild Wish is ready to take a break for the winter. Their destination, Lake Harmonial, is a place of peace and tranquillity. An idyllic, safe retreat.
Until now.
This ghost is no ordinary soldier, and Command want Wild Wish with him for a reason. When the ice comes to Harmonial, it will bring a threat that could unbalance the entire war.
One that only the Blood Scouts can stop.
These peaceful woods contain forces darker than any Wish has seen before. Win or lose, this mission is going to leave deep and terrible scars.
Return to the world of the Rocc for another thrilling, chilling chapter in the One War, as the Blood Scouts come to face the true cost of survival.
Review Copies Available Soon
Sounds tempting? Well, anyone interested in being the first to read the finished product, you can sign up for review copies here. The more reviewers the merrier, and if you don’t feel you’ll be able to finish it time for October I always welcome reviews further down the line.
I’ll also be organising a cover reveal blitz soon, so if you have a blog and are interested in taking part in that, let me know.
The release is going to coincide with FantasyCon / the World Fantasy Convention, which takes place the following weekend in Brighton, local to me, where I’ll be on hand with signed copies and other paraphernalia.
