After month’s of toil over what started as a 10,000 words story I can now present the full novella of Balfair’s Confinement – a return to the world of Estalia, last seen in Wixon’s Day. In stark contrast to the aimless wandering of Marquos (and the epic battles he drifted through), Balfair’s Confinement takes place in and around one location – the derelict estate of the engineer Balfair – a place that maid Deni dreams of escaping. This novel is a revival of the brooding world that made Wixon’s Day so atmospheric – along with its familiar moral ambiguity and outbursts of violence. In this case it’s through the eyes of Deni who, behind her meek exterior, proves prepared to go to great lengths to get what she wants. If early responses from my readers suggest anything, it’s that this is a story that’ll stick with you long after reading it.

The best part? I’m giving it away absolutely free to members of my mailing list, in anticipation of the full length follow-up novel. If you’re already on the list, just check your email for the link to the book – otherwise you can sign up HERE (or here, which is less pretty but will get to you quicker). It’s available exclusively through the list for the next three weeks – before its general release in the first week of August.

So there’s no excuse, get reading and let me know what you think!
